Glansys is a specialized antiviral ophthalmic gel containing Ganciclovir. Unlike the other ointments, this is specifically designed to treat viral infections of the eye, most notably acute herpetic keratitis caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV). It works by inhibiting the replication of the virus’s DNA, thereby stopping the spread of the infection within the cornea. The gel formulation allows for better spreadability across the eye surface. Regular application as directed is crucial for clearing the virus. It does not treat bacterial or fungal infections and must be used specifically for diagnosed viral conditions.
